3 Running Tips

Whether your new to running, or just need a refresher course on proper technique, here are three basic tips that will help make your runs easier and less stressful to your body. Keep in mind these are just general rules for effective running, and as you progress, you will learn some of your own techniques that will improve your efficiency and form. And don’t forget, regardless of your age or running experience, always spend at least five minutes stretching your legs and lower back.

1. FORM

Lean slightly forward. This causes your own body weight to provide you with “forward momentum”, reducing the amount of energy you will need to move forward. It also reduces impact forces on the heels, and spreads the impact more evenly across the foot. This causes less strain on the body and helps reduce injury.

2. STRIDE

Contrary to what you might think, shorter steps with quicker turnover (turnover is the number of steps taken per minute), is more efficient than larger steps with lower turnover. Find a stride length your comfortable with (don’t take baby steps, but don’t overreach either) and concentrate on a consistent pace and good form. And keep in mind that with the use of Aura DSS, you will achieve higher turnover automatically, due to the systems inherent high-energy return capabilities.

3. FOOT STRIKE

The safest and most effective landing is a mid foot strike. This means that instead of hitting the ground heel first, which is the natural tendency for the majority of runners, try focusing on landing flat-footed. This reduces impact to the body by spreading the impact forces, and also reduces the braking action that can be caused by excessive heel strike. But don’t worry, regardless if you’re a heel striker or a mid foot striker, Aura DSS will provide you with unmatched shock absorption, smooth heel to toe transition and enhanced responsiveness.

Good Luck. Hope these simple tips help make your runs more enjoyable and productive. Feel free to pass these tips on, and come back from time to time to learn more tips and techniques for effective running!

Did You Know?

Running in a shoe that is too soft (it will bottom out) is just as bad as running in a shoe that is too hard (reduced shock absorbency). That's why it's important to buy a shoe like AURA that takes your estimated weight range into account.
